京都を拠点として世界的な活動を続けるアーティストグループ、ダムタイプの中心メンバーであった古橋悌二による、最初のそして最後の本格的ソロワークである。全てがボーダレス化し情報化していく時代において、最終的に情報へと還元できないものは何か。そのぎりぎりの境界を、希薄な消滅へと至るまで、古橋は個人的真実とメディアを照応させながら真っ暗なインスタレーション空間において問いかける。微妙に映像設計されたスペクトル（霊気）としての身体表現、機械装置的視点から構成されたインスタレーションの透徹した空間美など、それまでダムタイプで試みられてきた、古橋のあらゆるセンシビリティが意識的に集約されたものとなった。（阿部一直＋四方幸子）

- 古橋は1995年にHIVにより死去。本作は、ダムタイプとしての最後の作品《S/N》と深いつながりを持つ。
- 古橋悌二「LOVERS」は、1998年ニューヨーク近代美術館に収蔵された。

「キヤノン・アートラボ」は、科学と芸術の融合による新たなアート領域の創造をめざす実験的な場として1990-2001年に存在したキヤノン株式会社の文化支援プログラム。アーティストとソフトウェア・エンジニアとの約10カ月のコラボレーションによりメディアアートの新作を発表、それらの多くが国内外を巡回、アップグレードも継続的に行った。実施した展覧会は、合計17（企画展10、海外から作品を招聘するプロスペクト展5、オープン・コラボレーション展1、特別展1）。その他にカタログを始めとした出版、シンポジウムやトーク、機器サポート、資金サポートなどを行なった。

This exhibit is artist Teiji Furuhashi’s first and last full-scale solo work. He was a major member of Dumb Type, a Kyoto-based artist group who have been active worldwide. In the era where everything becomes borderless, what can not be reduced to communication? In a very dark space of his installation, Furuhashi questions the very borderline between what can be communicated and what can not, and explores the borderline until it faintly disappears, while dealing with his personal truth and media. In this work, all his sensibilities that have been attempted in the past Dumb Type works are put together. — e.g. expressions of physique, subtly designed moving images as spectra (spirit), and the beauty of the installation space organized from the apparatus’ viewpoint.(Kazunao Abe + Yukiko Shikata)

- In 1995, Teiji Furuhashi died of HIV. This work is closely related to “S/N” of Dumb Type, which was developed in parallel.

Canon ARTLAB (1990-2001) was the cultural support program by Canon Inc., to produce new work of media art by the collaboration between artists and Canon’s computer engineers. ARTLAB produced totally 17 exhibitions and most of the work were further upgraded and toured worldwide. Other activities; publication, symposium and talk, equipment support and financial support.
